"Andrew's expertise and coaching is a huge part of how I went from a special teams guy to an All-American Linebacker during my time at ODU"
When I first met Coach Andrew, I was slow and only serviceable on special teams at Ohio Dominican University, where I had played for two years before he became the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in 2019. I told him I wanted to have a larger role on the team, and he took on and attacked that goal with me as his own. He told me it wasn’t going to be easy, and that I was going to have to embrace the suck every day. Then we went to work. Every summer, winter, spring, fall, we executed his strategic and intentional programming. His expertise and coaching is a huge part of how I went from a special teams guy to an All-American Linebacker during my time at ODU, and had the opportunity to successfully compete with the Parma Panthers in Italy in 2022, and with the Paris Football team in the European Football League in 2023.
Prior to working with Coach Andrew, I was fully prepared to go through another off-season of confusion and disappointment, as he was my 4th strength coach in 3 years. However, I experienced the opposite. The physicality and functionality of our football team became clearly visible on the football field. This was a direct correlation to the work and programming that Coach Andrew had us doing in the weight room/field. His passion and juice is contagious, and his knowledge is second to none. He was able to develop of a culture that not only resonated with us as athletes but also as human beings. At the end of the day, all he wanted was to push us to become the best possible athlete that we could be. Under his time at ODU he was able to coach 3 GMAC Special Teams Players of the Year, a GMAC Freshman Player of the Year, the first Defensive player to ever win GMAC Player of the Year, 61 All-GMAC players, 8 All-Region players, and 3 All-Americans. It is very clear what type of influence Coach Andrew has on his athletes.
He pushed me to points I never thought I could get to. I moved weight that I never thought I would touch. He became way more than just a strength coach. He became a mentor to me. He allowed my little brother to train with us, which is the reason he was able to obtain a football scholarship the very next year. I would not be in the position that I am in today, without the guidance of coach Andrew. If you train with Coach Andrew, you WILL be pushed and you WILL reach your goals. He will make you the best athlete that
